Aug. 5th, 2006 02:13 pmSo, I went to Paris alone the other day. It was good fun; saw the Louvre and everything; didn't see the Eiffel Tower, except to the extent that you have to see it, on account of its size, because really I don't care about things after 1800.
We've been watching silly French movies; last night it was Harry Potter et la coupe de feu, which sucks even more dubbed. They found a nice French boy whose delivery sucks almost as much as Radcliffe's. And really, 'mange-mort' just sounds silly. The movie is terrible on its own; they rely on dramatic music in the compelete absence of drama.
But anyway, another reason I hate dubs is that they're creepy. The voice is coming from the wrong direction, and there's the slight disjunct between the sound and the lips - I shudder. And it made Robspierre in Danton even creepier than he was with the extreme pallor.
Speaking of Danton, most of the movies have Depardieu in them, and I keep thinking that he should use his 17th century aristocrat skillz.
